House of worship Attacker Had Been Freed On Bail Following Rape Detainment, Police State
According to police officials, the suspect had been taken into custody on suspicion of sexual assault and had been released under conditional release at the time he perpetrated a deadly vehicle and stabbing assault on a Manchester Jewish temple.
One victim and Melvin Cravitz were killed in the attack last Thursday, and several individuals are still hospitalized.
Investigators believe that Al-Shamie may have been influenced by "radical religious views" and stated that three more people, between 18 and mid-40s, were detained under suspicion of planning and enabling of terrorist activities.
Condolences Paid to Deceased
On Friday, families of the victims expressed their grief to their loved ones, hailing them as brave individuals who died saving others.
Mr Daulby, 53 and Mr Cravitz, 66 were killed in the attack after the attacker used a vehicle against bystanders before attacking individuals with a knife on Thursday morning.
Local authorities said one victim was hit by police gunfire as they fired at the suspect shortly after the incident was reported.
Relatives Statements
Mr Daulby's family said he "died in the act of courage to save others" and his final act "was one of profound courage and he will forever be remembered".
The second victim, a local resident, was working as a protection officer at the synagogue.
Honoring his memory, his loved ones said: "He was so compassionate, caring and constantly tried to chat and build relationships.
"He remained dedicated to his spouse, relatives and enjoyed his food. He will be deeply mourned by his wife, family, friends and community."
Investigation Launched into Officer Actions
The Independent Office for Police Conduct said it would investigate the employment of deadly weapons by armed police dealing with the incident, which occurred on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Hebrew year.
Armed police inadvertently killed Mr Daulby, while worshipper another individual was also shot by police leaving him serious injuries.
The investigation will focus on the "events surrounding the fatal police shooting of the attacker", as well as "if police may have contributed to or contributed to the demise of the man later discovered with the lethal bullet injury".
Assault Details Disclosed
Anti-terrorism authorities also released more information about what happened in the run up to the assault at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue.
In a statement issued to the media on Friday, a senior officer stated: "We have been told from eyewitness statements that a man was seen acting suspiciously near the temple before he was approached by protection staff and walked away".
During that moment, the incident had not been communicated to authorities. Fifteen minutes later, "the suspect came back in a vehicle and initiated his horrific attack," Mr Taylor continued.
Police are seeking legal orders to extend the custody of all individuals currently detained, he also said. Earlier, Greater Manchester Police said three other suspects - two males in their thirties and a female in her 60s - had been arrested under suspicion of involvement and planning of terror-related activities.
Eyewitness Accounts
Rabbi Daniel Walker was conducting services when his place of worship was attacked and recounted witnessing "malice and hostility" as a individual began "ramming the entrance, hurling heavy plant pots, attempting everything possible to get in".
Praising the rapid response of congregation members, he told reporters: "I witnessed genuine heroism, I have to say, and people who rushed to assist fellow worshippers instead of running away. It was astonishing."
The synagogue chairman, the temple's chairman of trustees told news organizations, he overheard Al-Shamie shouting "this is their punishment for killing our children", before "striking with his blade into the windows, attempting to break in".
